Cocopeat and Coconut coir
Homemade Coco-Peat from scratch. Fun activity.
Steps to get coco-peat:
Step 1: Collect coconut husks and using de-husker tear it into 1 inch pieces(making it small will be easier to beat n soak).
Step 2: Beat the outer skin of the 1 inch husks so that the water will be absorbed into the harder outer skin.
Step 3: Pour water into a a cement tank or bucket n put the beaten husks to soak for 2 days. You will see the change in the colour of water after few hours like dark brown colour. Cover the bucket/cement tank with cloth/news paper so that mosquitoes won't breed in it.
Step 4: After 2 days take out the husks n squeeze out the excess water.
Step 5: Now place the husks on the flat ground n using hammer beat well like I shown in the pic.
Step 6: Now It'll be easier to pull the husks back n forth. U can see the peat separating from the coir. After few min u will get peat fully separated from the coir.
Step 7: Remove coir from the Peat n save it.
WARNING:
If you guys are suffering from hand pain or any form of arthritis please don't try this at home.
